Anatomical pathology (AP) reports from the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) are now available for download through Excelleris into our Practice Manager EMR. AP reports are available from all VIHA hospitals (with the exception of St. Joseph's in the Comox Valley scheduled to come online in the Fall of 2011).
One of our physicians who has already started to use this new feature says that the turnaround time for reports is significantly reduced. The electronic copies arrive in the EMR sometimes 2 days earlier than the hard copy. The automatic filing to patient charts saves so much time and makes the result instantly available for review from inside or outside the office. The AP reports can also be easily included in referral/consult letters.
