Osler Completes VIHA e-MS Conformance Testing
January 12, 2006 - Osler Systems, BC's largest medical software vendor, completes e-MS vendor conformance testing with the Vancouver Island Health Authority. Osler is the only vendor to complete e-MS testing in both the Interior and Vancouver Island health regions.
The e-MS (Electronic Medical Summary) is a subset of patient data that can be shared among care providers as a patient moves through the health care system. Previously, patient information was either in paper charts or incompatible software programs in practitioner offices. Sending a referral or consult meant creating a letter, perhaps by typing in the information manually, and sending it by mail, fax or email.
With e-MS, Osler users will be able to automatically and selectively pull patient data from the electronic chart into a standardized document. The document can then be sent quickly and securely using data exchange methods to another provider. When a document is received, a user will have the option to selectively import information into a patient’s chart. The electronic chart will always be up-to-date and the information will be available for future documents.
The e-MS project is one of the key building blocks for an electronic health record (EHR) for BC. It is a part of a vision for integrated health information management for the province (For further information on the e-MS project, visit www.e-ms.ca).
"It has been a pleasure working with you and your team and thank you for participating in the pilot. We look forward to continuing to work with you as we move through the next steps in the pilot implementation within the Vancouver Island Health Authority" - Karen Kuhn, Project Manager, Electronic Medical Summary Project.
Osler Completes IHA e-MS Conformance Testing
December 23, 2005 - Osler Systems Management, BC's largest medical software vendor, announces the successful completion of e-MS vendor conformance testing with the Interior Health Authority. This will allow our clients to communicate key health information promptly and efficiently when sharing the care of a patient. Having access to complete and up-to-date patient information will help our providers make the best decisions regarding the care of their patients.
The completion of this testing is part of Osler's continued effort to bring the latest tools and technologies to our clients.
Osler Releases Practice Manager 8.2
December 20, 2005 - Osler Systems Management announces the release of Practice Manager 8.2. Version 8.2 is the first release of our Practice Manager product to include the e-MS feature set. This will allow clients to create and send standardized electronic documents containing patient information during the on-call, referral and emergency processes. Practice Manager 8.2 also includes new work flow features related to tasks, lab results and electronic patient charts.
Over 500 Sites installed with Osler's EMR Product in BC
July, 2005 - Osler Systems Management, BC's largest medical software vendor, announces that over 500 sites are now installed with its EMR product, Practice Manager. We have seen a steady increase in the number of sites using the full-featured product over the last couple of years.
The Practice Manager product provides a complete electronic patient record with the ability to enter medical history, medications, allergies, alerts and encounter records, Each patient record also includes social, surgical, family, immunization, medical imaging, past referral and examination measurement histories. Lab results from Excelleris can be electronically downloaded into the patient charts. A powerful messaging component allows office staff to manage their tasks.
Practitioners can use as much or as little of the extensive feature set as they need and they can adapt their work flow over a time frame that suits them. Many offices that decide to use EMR start by adopting just 1 or 2 of its features. An office might begin with the electronic delivery of lab results and prescription management, for example. When these have been mastered, other features may be incorporated into the office work flow. The Practice Manager product provides a flexible solution for any medical practice. For a full product feature list, contact Osler.
