1. How many practitioners use Osler?

• Osler is being used by approximately 3000 practitioners across BC. including family physicians, specialists, chiropractors and physiotherapists. Our customers come from a full range of practices in BC including single practitioner offices, large clinics and hospitals.

• We have electronic CDM forms that may be used for patients with chronic diseases.
• The MOH CDM toolkit interface will be available in the near future.

8. I currently handwrite a lot of forms – lab requisitions, booking forms, etc. Can Osler help me with this?

• Yes. Osler can help you create digital versions of any form you use along with automatically filling in some of the fields from your database.

9. What are the system requirements for running Osler?

• Most new computers will easily satisfy our requirements for running Osler software. See System Requirements for details.
• An internet connection is also required.

10. Why do we need an internet connection?

• The Internet provides an easy way to download updates.
• Resources available on the Internet include:
      i. Drug interactions
      ii. Drug databases
      iii. Software updates for most applications
      iv. Patient handouts?
      v. Research papers
      vi. Virus updates
      vii. OS security patches & updates
• Email, which is typically bundled with an internet connection, provides an another convenient method for communicating with Osler support. Email us at support@oslersystems.com
• Remote support will be provided over the Internet. This gives you a higher level of support. You will learn more quickly as we show you how to do things rather than tell you how. You can train as you need it rather than attempting to learn everything in one sitting.

11. What is remote support?

• Remote support refers to the ability to control your computer keyboard and mouse remotely from the Osler Help Desk. This allows us to troubleshoot problems quickly while you watch and learn about using the program. Remote support requires a network connection from your computer to our help desk computers. This is done with remote support software such as PC Anywhere, Remote Desktop or VNC over the Internet.
• Security concerns about using remote support can easily be addressed. You have complete control over outside access to your computer. Call us for details.

12. How do we get training?

• Initial training is provided free of charge over the Internet using a telephone along with our remote assistance technology.
• Initial training is provided at the Osler office in Sidney free of charge. We are close to both the Victoria airport and the Swartz Bay ferry terminal.
• We are happy to provide training at your office. The cost is $500 plus transportation costs.

13. How much does Osler software cost?

• The cost depends on the number of practitioners and number of work stations in your office. Osler products are priced very competitively. Contact us; we will be happy to provide you with a detailed quote.

15. Can I transfer from another system to Osler?

• Yes, switching to Osler is easy. Depending on your current medical software, you should be able to transfer patient demographic data (names, address, Personal Health Numbers, Last Visit Date, Referral Doctor) to your Osler system. Clinical or chart information is converted on a case by case basis. Once you purchase an Osler system, we will guide you through this process. If your current software cannot export demographic data, MSP can send you an electronic file with limited information on all patients seen in the last eighteen months.
